Somebody said recently that the best thing a student could do was to get in some shows and publish a book, but nothing about becoming a human being, nothing about having important feelings or concepts of humanity. That’s the sort of thing that is bad education. I’d say be a human being first and if you happen to wind up using photography, that’s good for photography. – Henry Holmes Smith

Oh how perfectly well put!! I was just thinking about these ideas, and how photography really is just the medium and it is really about what is between the ears. Thank you for sharing.
A great quote, but isn’t that a Jerry Uelsmann photograph?
Google Search for Jerry Uelsmann:
http://images.google.com/images?q=jerry+uelsmann&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&sa=X&oi=image_result_group&resnum=1&ct=title
It is, sorry it was mis-attributed on google image search. Thanks! But I have an actual HHS image up now, and Jerry Uelsmann studies with him, so at least I was close:)
