NY Times Campaign Photography
August 28, 2008
I normally feature fine-art photography on GG, but I came across this portfolio of images on the Times website by Damon Winter and was blown away. This is some dramatic work and really captures the theatrics of the campaign. Makes me reconsider the digital SLR. My guess as his camera, I think most journalists now use them, but I would be curious to know.

That’s really good work – thanks for the pointer. I don’t know what Damon Winter used for that campaign but agree that it’s likely to have been a digital SLR. Also loved Scout Tufankjian’s coverage of the campaign. She definitely uses a DSLR. (Her recent shots are taken with a Nikon D3.)

Agreed… very good work.
There are plenty of photojournalists using a dslr making the same old, boring pictures. In the hands of a photographer with a strong personal vision… almost doesn’t matter which camera they use.
